inside job and pendulum really took on new lives live. Inside Job feels stifled and flat on the album but finds the soaring redemeption its looking for in live versions. And pendulum moves from a cloistered meditative song to something epic and almost dangerous

too early to tell for gigaton

Any performances of Inside Job you'd recommend?

All the ones I've had the chance to see have been good, but that's not helpful since I don't recall which shows those were. According to p. 141 of 'I Am No Guide: Pearl Jam Song by Song' the versions from Lets Play Two and LV 7/6/2006 are standouts if the authors are to be believed.

I'm not sure it matters much for this. The song was written to be a shared journey, and while it is oddly hushed and muted on S/T, the openness of the live setting, the hugeness of it all, really elevates the song. I think I'd probably take any live version I've ever heard, which have all been quite good, over the studio version, where I have to do some of the transformative work myself.

December 15th is, worldwide, the day of the year when people have the least amount of sex. Look it up.

This is my answer too. This album should have been a Time Fades Away for them — no studio album, just take the songs on the road and make an album out of the live versions.

Stip is right about Inside Job. I’m being totally serious when I say the green lasers really upped the ante too. Felt cathartic.

Las Vegas 2006 is a brilliant version of Inside Job.
It opens the show, sounds great when the crowd cheers as Ed comes onstage after the musical intro. He was apparently ill that night so it's even more impressive.

I saw them open a show with Pendulum a couple of days before LB dropped. I had heard it once or twice via a leak, but I remember it feeling very powerful live, especially to kick off the evening.
