I’ve been slowly going through the catalogue recently. Did Gigaton last week. This week was backspacer. That one has gone up the ranks for me more than expected. I’d forgotten how much I enjoy Force of Natur and Speed of Sound

the 12th album will consist solely of 12 different remasters of 'Can't Deny Me'

Close to this. It’s a concept album build around the tempo on the cowbell in that song.

Those are good songs. I think the general quality of songs is better on that album than Lightning Bolt, but for me, Gigaton blows them both way, way out of the water. I liked Lightning Bolt a lot when it came out, but only when I heard Pearl Jam sounding like Pearl Jam again did I realize how much of that was actually, in retrospect, rationalization.

Could you point me towards an epic and dangerous life version of Pendulum please?

Someone find the version of the Pendulum where it turns into a good song.

Can someone put Backspacer through the AI machine? I'd be curious to hear it like we did with LB.

I’m on board with this. Very similar experience in that Gigaton highlighted what was missing

Beyond the actual bad choices (I.e., turning McCready’s almost Pink Floyd-ish sonic approach of Sirens into a cheesy ballad, or taking a really cool musical composition in Infallible and wasting it with a bland chorus), the album needs to be scratched up a bit - it’s too slick.

Oh I meant with Backspacer. I would change a LOT with LB

My fault I read it wrong. Same sound problem. It needs to be roughed up a little. Too slick.

Backspacer is nowhere near as bad as I remember it. It's bang average. But - without Lightning Bolt- an interesting diversion. With LB it marks a career 'phase'. Which is a shame as Backspacer is perfectly fine really. LB is bollocks tho.

I like Backspacer, but you're right - Lightning Bolt right after it kind of taints it.

Lightning Bolt has more low points than Backspacer but I like everything on Lightning Bolt more than I like Supersonic

Supersonic would be my second or third favorite song on Lightning Bolt.
