At Xmas gathering at Mrs Wease’s grandmother’s. Started at 11:30 and my brother-in-law just showed up at 1:48. We had finished eating and gifts and everything and now his mom is making them get all the food back out and making us all gather back around to watch him open his fucking gifts. Fucker has no consideration for anyone else’s time at all.

This is my brother too. Every Xmas Eve we have our big extended family dinner. Every year whomever is hosting sets the time to be there so we can get the formalities and dinner done within reasonable time. Every year my brothers entire family arrive an hour after that.

I love him dearly but my God does he piss me off with his zero consideration for other's time.

I’ve tried for years to get them to do that. MiL will have none of it. And he’s so unpredictable that one day he may be an hour late, the next 3.5 hours late. He never even showed up to his parents’ 50th Anniversary party. Just kept telling them “I’ll be there in a minute.”

How is this a condition? If you can read a clock and have a general feeling for how time passes, you should be able to arrive on time.

My assumption is these latecomers don’t want to spend time with their family, so they come late solely out of obligation. Fairly alpha to make everyone else accommodate their schedule.

and if you’re enabling that behavior by accommodating their schedule you shouldn’t expect them to make changes any time soon.
