Fender. They have better basses + the telecaster.

Gibsons are great but way overpriced for what you get. So many better options out there.

For listening, probably no preference. I very much like the sound of each one. For playing, I have better control of the instrument with a Gibson.

When I think Fender there isn’t a specific guitarist that comes to mind.

When I think Gibson the first image in my head is Slash.

Fender: Jimi, Gilmour, SRV, etc.

Honestly my first image for Fender is probs McCready.

If I wasn’t such a PJ junkie then yeah probably gotta be Hendrix.

The Fender Telecaster is the most aesthetically pleasing of all the guitars imo.

So far, the best sounds Fenders have made are better than the best sounds Gibsons have made.

I had a friend in high school who had a Gibson SG, at a time when all of the rest of us had Squier Strats or some other kind of starter guitar. I loved playing it but I always felt like I was playing something that belonged in a museum — I was constantly worried about scratching it or bending a string so hard as to mess up the intonation or something. Because of that, I always felt like I could bang around a bit more on Fenders and play a bit more naturally. But I love the sound and feel of both.
