It's kind of my dream guitar now, except for that dang bolt-on neck.

Papa Wease has a ‘61 Les Paul Junior, single pickup. It’s the SG design before Les left and they started calling it the SG. So that’s what I learned to play on. After that, I got a ‘77 Les Paul Custom and that’s been my primary guitar since high school.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

That thing had better sound like a million bucks, because that Flying V style headstock is awful. One of the reasons Gibson's Ripper bass is far more sought after than the Grabber, no doubt.96583UP wrote:yup trag is lazy af:

This is actually pretty funny when you consider Gibsons will break in half at the top nut if you look at them funny.Kevin Davis wrote:I was constantly worried about scratching it or bending a string so hard as to mess up the intonation or something.
Also the tuners are flimsy as heck.
Fender all day.

Re: Pick one: Gibson or Fender
I've owned guitars from virtually all of the classic brands at some point but never a Gibson, I guess that says something.
I do have a lot of fondness for the non-reverse Firebird design:

It belonged to a friend/bandmate and this was at least 20 years ago, so I don't really trust my recollection at this point.tragabigzanda wrote:Interesting insight there Spenno. How did your model play?
I think it was fine but I was also probably less discerning then.

Honestly I've played fenders that feel awful in my hands and fenders that feel amazing in my hands. Same with gibsons. It really depends. Aesthetically? Love fenders more.
Les Paul's are also too heavy and I love my SG
