Just watched Chapelle's "What's In A Name?".
Even at a very short 40 minute runtime, and being a speech at his alma mater rather that a proper standup routine, it fucking rocks.
This dude can make anything sound interesting, but when he touches on artistry and how art should never "behave" = gold.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

He calls back to people being offended by his past specials way too often. Basically pandering to the "anti-woke" crowd. Some funny bits but he fell off hard overall.

There was one bit where he was like "I just thought of something super offensive. Should I say it? Ha ha I'm not sure. Should I? Okay here goes..."

Tell the joke or don't, guy. The setup shit is wack.

I love The Office and Extras, but I don't care for Ricky outside of that. He seems like he'd be a nightmare to be around.

I liked when he took a shit on The Oscars that one time, but yeah other than that and the Office, he's not that funny.

I think he does well as a straight man, for instance the Liam Neeson bit, but he rarely seems to go that route.

Maybe I'm way easy to amuse, but I actually enjoyed this latest Gervais special.

The best special I've seen in a while goes to Taylor Tomlinson's "Look At You". :nice:

I just watched The Dreamer. I laughed because Dave Chappelle is funny.

Attn: Trag, Veggie. Is the new Chapelle good? Please let me know. I can't trust Bammer.

Many thanks.
