Re: Box office talk!
Worldwide box office total:
1 Barbie $1,441,820,453
12 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts $438,966,392
13 Meg 2: The Trench $395,000,317
14 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny $383,963,057
18 The Flash $270,633,313
20 Wonka $254,867,717
23 Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves $208,177,026
24 The Marvels $205,070,829
26 Napoleon $198,680,761 (scheduled to pass 200 mill on Tuesday)
32 Killers of the Flower Moon $156,233,555
36 Shazam! Fury of the Gods $133,838,006
37 Blue Beetle $129,288,072
42 Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom $120,100,000
54 Godzilla Minus One $74,659,927
66 Asteroid City $53,847,125
Aquaman the most recent one. « To achieve financial viability, the movie is expected to exceed $400 million in global box office earnings.»
Obviously it has bigger numbers than a bunch of minor movies (even some of the best of the year), but the expectations are also a lot higher. Think passing Indiana Jones is going to be difficult. The Flash is probably a fair target, and it should easily pass $200 mill worldwide.
“Warner Bros.’ superhero crossover The Flash didn’t exactly speed off to the races, with a first place opening of $55.1M. That falls short of even the lowest end of Boxoffice PRO’s pre-release projection range: $60M to $80M.
It also opens below some other DC Extended Universe titles with which it was expected to perform comparably, or even exceed:
-41% below 2017’s Justice League, which also featured the Flash character ($93.8M)
-18% below 2018’s Aquaman ($67.8M)
-17% below 2022’s Black Adam ($67.0M)
At least it opened +2% above 2019’s Shazam! ($53.5M).
The Flash opened to $75.0M overseas and $139.0M globally.“

Re: Box office talk!
Wonka about to pass Indiana Jones 5, while Aquaman 2 has passed The Marvels, Shazam 2 and The Blue Beetle, and is about to pass The Flash.

Re: Box office talk!
That doesn't include marketing and the caveat that a budget is the money they plan to spend at the start of the process. The actual spend usually comes out years down the line.

Re: Box office talk!
Think Wonka is doing really well, and Aquaman too, is ending up delivering quite well.

WB is definitely not celebrating Aquaman's take.
