Season five is such a huge bum note. Nothing happens. Apart from Leo.

Six picks way up and becomes almost a hybrid of Sorkins best moments and fast paced short attention span modern tv.

It’s odd

Season 5 is awful. For the first few episodes the writers are clearly just trying to copy Sorkin, and the rest of the season is just dull. Toby & Leo suffered most, because only Sorkin knew how to write those two.

The Supremes is the best episode of that season, by far.

Halfway through season 6 it's like the writers realized they had to change it up or the show was done. Splitting the cast up and switching between White House episodes and Campaign episodes was a brilliant decision, and the writing really improves.

Season 7 is awesome, and easily up there with seasons 2 & 3 as my favourites.

Yes, season 5 is the weak link. It does explore some interesting things however.

Wow.

Halfway into season six. I never enjoyed this season. Previously it felt clunky and poorly written.

It’s not. It’s a ramshackle campaign trying to find its legs. It’s written exactly as it needs to be.

This is really enjoyable.

They’re recreating that episode Hartsfield Landing and staging it in a theatre. Live performance. It’s gonna be on HBO.

Richard schiff just did a great interview on US politics on a pod here I just listened to it

With the dearth of new programming lately, we very well may. Maybe even start tonight.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I do a full rewatch every year or two. It doesn't feel dated to me, but with every passing year it makes me sad that politics isn't this hopeful and optimistic.

I didn't watch in 2023 so I'm ready to start it again. Perhaps I'll rewatch Sopranos first.

A full rewatch, meaning every episode? Do you do that to several series?

I have thought about watching this before, but I hated the Newsroom so much that I'm not sure if I'd like it.

You’re thinking of The Wire.

I only do a full rewatch of The West Wing and The Sopranos. TWW is like comfort viewing for me, it's so easy to watch.

I need to let more time pass between Sopranos viewings because I really enjoy getting sucked back into that world but I need to pay attention.
