I’m embarrassed that I had never watched this until now. Especially since I would go around naming Kubrick as one of my favourite directors.

Being known for its great cinematography, and the scenes lit entirely by candlelight were all I really knew about it. But it really is one of the most beautifully shot films I’ve ever seen. Much funnier than I expected, too. And not at all boring (another impression I had of it)

I’m going to make a point of finally watching the rest of his movies that I’ve never seen, most notably The Killing and Paths of Glory.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Always loved this movie. Glad you enjoyed it. Paths Of Glory is another top movie.

Was a good Sunday for foreign language movies, really enjoyed La Belle Epoque (France) and And The We Danced (Georgia).

The first was about a man hiring a crew of actors to recreate an early meeting he had with his future wife in the 1970s, where he played himself. Very enjoyable. Think they captured the feeling of the time, as well as his journey really well. The other movie was similar to Brokeback Mountain, but in a modern day society that is filled with machismo and conservative values. Most of it taking place in traditional Georgian dance company. The cast was stellar in both of these.

Finished with watching most of a Korean action called The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil, and will watch the last 30 minutes of that one, as well as seeing Japanese movie First Love this evening.
