Anyone else think that first riff he’s playing sounds pretty similar?
I bet that intro Chord progression and riff is the new single. Let’s see how wrong I am haha
Sorry I don’t hear that at all. Time and picking pattern are completely different.
I think he’s playing C to G in the fender clip. He’s playing A-C-D with some fills in G I believe in last nights clip. I’d put money on not the same at all.
"For me, it's all about the time we're having just playing the songs. So if it's kind of a mindless good time, then....."
Mike is a pentatonic ripper. He's not going to change.
Pearl Jam is gonna pearl jam. They aren't going to take a complete 180 at this point in their career.
I personally love the pentatonic ripping, it just hits my meathead primal soul.
But, guys, they aint gonna change.
I just hope there are some interesting riffs on there and less of the 4 chord punk rock things that mike has been doing lately. I hope there are some awesome melodies. Some cathatric moments. some good lyrics.

I also don't think Save You is any good - in fact, I think it's the worst song on Riot Act.
I could believe Mike wrote this one if this all hangs together. I can (regrettably) see the line drawn between this, Save You, Mind Your Manners, etc.
Save you and rival are two of their best heavier songs of the last 25 years imo. And riot act is a top 2 album
For me but anyone who prefers bushleager, green disease or get right to save you is out of their godamn mind (or has different musical tastes than myself ha).
it's that he enters the solo playing the scale in it's basic form
already did that in the Alive solo
doing it again
i mean it's fine I will take it 10/10 times over one of Ed's cheesy adult contempo numbers
but you know he is 72 years old now, not 12 years old

i'll be happy with a couple pitch-corrected hee-hee's

and like what kind of salad we talking
a cobb salad, with a bunch of clunky unhealthy ingredients that look strange and give you explosive diarrhea
or a ceasar salad that is totally overdone with thick cheesy peppercorn sauce that gives you explosive diarrhea

A four-second instrumental clip was played in the background of a televised sporting event, and eagle-eared PJ fans are convinced it’s the best PJ song in 20 years, except for me, numbersup, and Spenno, who can already tell it will suck

during the NBC broadcast of the NFL game last night, as they went to commercial, there was an unknown spritzy punker playing. some folks shazammed it and it was unidentified. we are pretty sure it is the new PJ song
and we are cycling through the various stages of initial joy and intrigue through disappointment / contempt

Tossed salad, the sexual variety, except instead of a b-hole it’s multisyllabic diarrhea

Yes to all this. Mike is what he is. If you want something different, listen to Ingway whatshisface

Thank you. Is there much precedent for sports shows casually playing unreleased songs? Couldn't it have been just one of those generic "energetic guitar music" tracks you can license off Audio Jungle for 15 bucks? Those rarely appear on Shazam
