I think you pop in Sticky Fingers and possibly come to a different result.

I have a hard time in life picking between Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street. Really I am more impressed with the Stones as a creative unit when I hear Sticky Fingers, but Exile feels like an emotional roller coaster to me. I am a mess once we get to Shine a Light. Both albums to me are the height of rock music.

Exile was never my jam, i mean i love it but i prefer other albums to that one. Tumbling Dice is a favorite tough.liebzz wrote:I have a hard time in life picking between Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street. Great album, but there’s a bunch to care about:tragabigzanda wrote:The only Stones album I care about is Beggars Banquet
The Rolling Stones, Now!: For me, the apex of the early blues covers era.
Out of Our Heads: The beginning of their transition into serious songwriters as the balance tips towards originals.
Aftermath: First album of all originals really getting into the signature Stones sound.
Between the Buttons: the Stones in stride and straddling between Aftermath sound and the experimentation in Their Satanic Majesty’s Request.
Beggars Banquet: the first in a run of perfect or near perfect Stones albums.
Let It Bleed: the Stones at their most raw sleaze.
Sticky Fingers: perfection.
Exile On Main Street: more perfection.
Goats Head Soup: not quite as great as the previous 4, so it gets a bad rep. Still Stones on a razor’s edge.
Black and Blue: underrated gem.
Some Girls: might be the origin of “return to form”
Tattoo You: the last of a great era.
Blue & Lonesome: return to the blues covers era, but with gravitas of age and maturity.
Hackney Diamonds: the new album showing incredible life after 60 years together.
That’s a whopping 14 albums to start. I could make a case for New England’s Newest Hitmakers, 12x5, It’s Only
Rock & Roll, Emotional Rescue, Steel Wheels, and Voodoo Lounge.

i love Hackney Diamonds. What an album.
But also, im a huge Stones fan. Its incredible but sometimes i listen, lets say...Head Goat Soup, one i didnt really cared much as a kid and now i can see all these different things happening.
Emotional Rescue was one i despised as a kid and now its like damn! this is so fucking good. This is jamming!
Very cool stuff.

Aftermath, Between the Buttons, and Beggar's Banquet are my favorites. I was about to call it a "run" until I realized they were broken up by TSMR.
I enjoy listening to the early '60's stuff more than I enjoy Sticky Fingers, Exile, Some Girls, etc., though I like those too.
