In the book Eileen (the character) is far less naive and way more fucked up. At least, in my reading. There's a real tension between her and the Hathaway character. There's actually a way to read the book that the Hathaway character isn't even real -- she COULD be a Tyler Durden type of device. But that's up for debate/interpretation. Eileen is much more of a drunk and has a real darkness to her that's sort of softened in the movie, I think.

In the book, the gun falls from Eileen's pocket and shoots the mother. It isn't as intentional as it is in the movie. Also the Hathaway character isn't in the room when it happens, so there's a real unreliable narrator angle.

Those are a coupe of key examples. But there are a ton more.

This was fantastic. Tense, exciting and stylish. Loved it.

Interesting, sounds like the book is way more complex and I was figuring that out about the Eileen character, in the movie it felt off like I needed another hour of her at least.
Maybe the lead actress is miscast too.

Seeing All Of Us Strangers here in a few.

I hadn't even heard of this movie until like two weeks ago when I saw a trailer before Poor Things. Super stoked to set it.

Loved Andrew Scott as Moriarty in Sherlock. Don't think I've seen him in anything since then!

This movie got me. But time.

The entire ensemble is outstanding, but Andrew Scott is unreal good. There are issues, but overall I think I loved it. Need to sit with it awhile. But wow...

I imagine "RM" will be underwhelmed by it.

Sorry Joey, normally you'd be right, but you're talking to the reigning RMer of the year and that title comes with significant privileges.

Trailer is a bit of a misdirect but it’s the heart of it too.
They’re at sundance today. First Irish language film ever accepted
