Re: Are you not not going to watch the Oscars this year?
Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Re: Are you not not going to watch the Oscars this year?
I havent seen Anatomy Of A Fall yet, because it opens here this week and i think ill wait for Poor Things to be on Stremio. The Zone Of Interest opens in a few weeks, but im not that interested really, that seems another one ill wait for.
American Fiction and Past Lives havent been premiered yet, the latter is one i guess ill see on my plane to Colombia.
Very weak year for the Oscars really. Killers is by far my favorite, followed by Oppenheimer and Maestro. The other stuff goes merely ok like Holdovers to just plain bad like Barbie or Saltburn.

Re: Are you not not going to watch the Oscars this year?
Thank you. Will be interesting when we get the nominations tomorrow.
Personally I think it looks like a really exciting year from what I've heard and read, but I've seen very few movies from the 2020s yet, actually exactly 100 (I just checked, and that's not a planned number, it's just where it is right now), and only a couple of those where from 2023.

I think the last time I watched the Oscars is when Jon Stewart hosted.
