Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread

Wow, I didn't even include the title track in my ranking. I think that guarantees a place in the "meh" category. That song doesn't really do it for me. Some compare it to Unthought Known, which I don't really see at all other than the new wave aspects. UK was a highlight of BS and one of the better tracks of the last decade for me.

I think it's this element:

while the kick drum's kicking.

mumble woah.
It's so sad and sick'nin'

Jeff, on recording "Pendulum": "Actually, John Burton kind of stayed late with me one night, and I did a bunch of bowed guitars, and just a bunch of weird tracks on there that... I think if we'd have recorded that song with Brendan... *laughs*... some of that stuff might not have happened."

I had only heard MYM and Sirens before yesterday, and I liked them both. Finally got a copy last night and have listened to it 3 times. Was pretty meh the first time through, but getting better with each listen. Some brief thoughts:

4 great songs to start - LB was first song I was undecided on, some of the lyrics are kinda cheesy
Favorite song by far is Yellow Moon
I like LTRP and SBM more than most
As of right now YM should have closed the album, FD is just ok
