nah, big big releases get priority at pressings plants. Adele's latest record was the reason a lot got delayed.

Also... I remember Earthling was released for CD and Streaming months before the vinyl arrived...

So, Im still hoping for a single release soon and the album will probably drop somewhere between the end of march and the beginning of may.

Also, I really hope they promote the shit out of this upcoming record. I want the boys in interviews, podcasts and magazines. I want TV performances on SNL and/or late night shows. Some pro-shots from the road.

They didnt do any of that for Gigaton. Ok, it was a lockdown but still... They could have done more than nothing....

I kinda think they missed a good opportunity by not playing on Jools Holland's Hootenanny on NYE

Ed is also getting new hair implants every few years. That might affect album release, press, and touring.

But seriously I don't see why they would do much more media than they have in the past.

They'll promote the hell out of this album and nobody outside of the loyal fanbase will care.

Pearl Jam is an echo chamber (and im fine with that fact). But think of the fair-weather fans who come to shows (still a big continent of the audience). I've spoken with many throughout the years and they hardly give the newer records a second thought. Maybe they've heard a few songs here or there, but they certainly aren't paying attention to the promotional efforts around an album release. So, the promotion to me is a self licking ice cream cone.

IF they want to do podcasts and discuss details of writing and recording, that's fantastic. I think we could do without the larger, more commercial promotion. Just release the music - your capture in terms of fans is about 100% of potential and has been for 20+ years now.

2024 Is Looking Like A Big Year For Pearl Jam
Stephen Nepa 1 min ago Editorial, Latest News, Music Comments Offon 2024 Is Looking Like A Big Year For Pearl Jam

2024 is looking like a big year for Pearl Jam. Our favorite band from Seattle Washington has a big year coming up. Not only does the band have a new album that should be out this year. A worldwide tour should soon follow. The band should be releasing their next studio album sometime this year according to various band members including drummer Matt Cameron and bassist Jeff Ament.

A single from the upcoming record should also be hitting the airwaves in the next couple of weeks. the single is called Wrecker. The title of the album has yet to be revealed. Guitarists Mike McCready and Stone Gossard have also revealed in various interviews that the new album will be a lot heavier than previous albums. Pearl Jam has announced upcoming shows at Wrigley Field in Chicago on August 29th and August 30th. They will also headline BottleRock in Napa Valley, California on May 25th.

can someone do some image searches and chart Ed’s hairplug trajectory

maybe that explains why his voice fell apart

i think Joe Buck had a similar issue

All true. But that's even a bigger reason to do more promotion. Those fair-weather fans are not following the band that close. So if they see them more in the press, perhaps they believe that marketing narrative that they are 'back'. Bands as RHCP or FF have an even bigger percentage of fair weather fans and they tour and promote way more than PJ.

the fact that an artist would like to draw attention to their art doesnt strike me as particularly controversial, but I can agree that the hyper fans who post regularly online in a thread about an album that hasn’t been announced yet probably arent the target audience for marketing campaigns

they've done it before, it has a good reputation for music people here and I watch it every NYE, I don't care how "uncool" it is
