PINCH ME IM DREAMING
So, this was kind of a dream come true situation for myself.
One morning i was sitting on the couch in the AM sipping my espresso and perusing the internet. Most likely i was on RM and Facebook. I looked up and saw a random message to my facebook account from a fella asking if i was capable and willing to record guitars for a project. This guy found me through the Pearl Jam Ten Club facebook group. I said "oh yea sure". Well, he told me was recording this cover of American in Me but the fun part was that this awesome drummer was going to lay the drum tracks for it.
He sent me the stems and told me that it was no other than Dave Abbruzzese. I listned to the just the drum stems and i heard the snare crack. Ive heard that snare crack a million times ove rrthe last 30 years of my life. And there it was on my computer blaring through my headphones raw and in its natural elelment.
Yada yada.
I recorded guitars and bass, dave said "You crushed the guitars!". Then a childhood musical hero of mine from MPLS got involved in the mixing and production of it. he sent the singer off to a studio in NYC to record better vocals, then dave sent to his friend in brazil to track backing vocals to give it some additional flare.
So, shit. I recorded a song with Dave A. Bring him back!
Its been a true pleasure actually getting to know him and collaborate (there will be more).
I dont 100% love the finished product but that is just stupid nitpicking and wanting it to sound like Brendan O Brien recording it! Lol. However, beyond thrilled especially considering this was all put together from across the globe.
Ultimately, little strat.....i picture him sitting on the coffee table in the basement and seeing Dave Abbruzzese take the seat behind the kit on the VMA's or PJ Unplugged or the countless VHS bootleg tapes i had from the Euro tour.....and i want to go tell him he is going to record music and befreidn that drummer......
Pinch me im dreaming.
Was fun as hell.

Re: Now Playing
It's Opening Night over at Days of Wine and Roses. So, I searched "opening night" on Spotify and found this playlist called: Dressing Room Hype. I'm playing that now and it's wild. It's all over the map!

Revisiting the Kyuss albums. I don't like them as much as the later bands that it spawned, but it's definitely a good groove. Such an important band.

She was part of Throwing Muses, Belly, and (briefly) The Breeders. Her solo career is great, she doesn't really get her due.Buby wrote:Thanks Jorge, you led me down a nice rabbit hole. Listen to her first solo album Lovesongs for Underdogs, it's where this song is from and it has that great 90s alternative poppy-but-kinda-grungy sound. Great songwriting and singing

I guess I’m stuck in the 70s lately.. a lot of ELO, early Elvis Costello, and early Talking Heads.
