you have a point, I'm also concerned about this
You guys are complaining about the mix from a shitty sounding clip that was recorded from the other side of a warehouse door. Good god.

"complaining" is a stretch, raising a concern is more accurate; we won't know until we hear it properly

I admit I had the same thought after my one listen of that video. I didn’t want to be even more pessimistic than I already was, so I’m not listening again unless it’s an actual track (official or leak is fine).

Based on my memory of what I heard, I think the music sounds like it could be awesome at times…

too many words remains my primary concern

secondary concern is whether Boom needs food/clothing

I too feared the loud Vedder mix. Tempering myself from too much negativity.

This could be a decent release but chances are it'll be 5 or so tracks that I can listen to and ditch the rest.

One of the reviews says Cameron's drumming drowns out Vedder at times. Not sure the mix for Ed will be too loud.

My thought has always been not that Ed is necessarily too loud in the mix, but that the guitars always seem quiet. I think this improved a bit with Gigaton.

I’m more worried about an ed word salad.

Mobile phone microphones are typically setup to favour voices (mainly using software to noise cancel to a certain level). Not just on phone calls, but in normal videos too.

There's so much here in the said video that could tamper with and distort the mix. So at the moment, I would take it all with a grain of salt.

I have to admit, from what I heard, my immediate response was that it sounded pretty awful - like various iterations of, I don't know, Quick Escape and Sirens. The weakest parts of the last two records, amplified and glossed up.

I know how ridiculous it is to make any judgements based on snippets of music distantly recorded through a door, however, so I'm happy to eat my hat if this thing rules.

It becomes clear at album release time that these guys probably benefited from having an overbearing record company managing the rollout and hype machine. They always seem to muddle through it uncomfortably, not really knowing how it should be done.

I have an idea just release the goddamn album. No singles. No events. Give it to me. I have been on this ride for over 30 years. I’m in. Just give it to me. This is not difficult.

i like leaks, poor audience recordings, being confused, overreacting, hearing music from behind the door. i liked that confusing browser web code based puzzle RM did years ago.

give me no album

Well one of the articles mentioned something along the lines of Matt’s drumming drowning out Ed at times… so perhaps he sings right the way through all the guitar solos!
