I didn’t even notice. It bothered me that they were watching a video of a woman being killed at max volume in a crowded waiting room and nobody else even blinked.

Something feels off about the season and it’s keeping me from loving it. I continue to find myself comparing it to season 1 (which I just completed a third rewatch of) and it doesn’t live up to that standard (story, direction, script, acting, etc.). That’s a high bar for any show but Lopez and crew have willingly invited comparisons via the direct linkages and easter eggs and it falls short.

It’s still very good—and we’ll see how this all turns out—but I think they’d have been better served not making this a True Detective story, or at least not one linked to season 1.

“You’re in the Night Country now!” felt like parody.

The "horror" elements are killing the flow in this.

And hate to say it, but Navarro cannot act.

dont agree at all, but maybe because im a huge horror fan. I love it and it shows how good Lopez is directing and creating a vibe.

I also recently rewatched S1 and yes, its as awesome as always, but this is its own beast. Its the best season since the first one for sure, and im loving the elements that are tying it with that one.

Also, dude watching Foster playing such a mess of a character is great.

This episode, on the other hand, oof. Very disjointed and just all over the place.

At first I thought the horror elements were kinda cool but now we've got
Spoiler: show
ghosts pointing and screaming at Navarro every 15 minutes
...and it's feeling a little overdone.

Also, some of the writing is goofy as hell. Danvers' daughter gets caught vandalizing property and she's like "WHY DO YOU ALWAYS TAKE THEIR SIDE!?"

Because I'm a Police detective and my daughter is a God damn idiot, apparently.

It's not a good show but it's never been a good show. Acting disguised that in S1.

It's still a fun show, unlike S2 and S3.

You can tell it's a bad show because when that one character died last night the music director chose a song called "Everybody dies." Yellowstone does the same thing, Kevin Costner will say something about a horse and then there will be a brief montage with a song called like "My Old Horse." Terrible hack shit from producers who don't have any respect for their viewers' intelligence. I enjoy both shows and look forward to watching new episodes.
