Lyrics for Wreckage* below…
There was some confusion created by the article after the listening party. I have just received an advance copy of the new single wreckage and the comparison with Soundgarden has nothing to do with Matt’s pounding… and everything to do with borrowing lyrics from New Damage.
The wreck-ahhhh-huh is going down, down
Fall by the wayside, no getting out ohh
Get uh out before you drown yeah yeah yeaahhhhh
The wreck-ahhh-huh is going down yeah yeah
Get uh huh out before you drow-ohhhh-own ahhh haaa yeah haaa yeah yeah
Won't let the dark matter swallow me, yeah ahhh haaa
** Ukulele solo **
Yeah ahhhh haaa yeah yeah
* Wreckage or Wrecker - it’s hard to distinguish the writing on the cassette tape.

That's the whole problem, it's too poppy. Chorus AND verse included.DDWJMUVW wrote:But really, infallible isn’t THAT awful. Live version is an improvement. I think it suffers quite a bit from the choices made regarding instrument sound/effects . It’s very hard to take the song seriously when you hear guitars that sound like keys and horns.
Once again, could have been so much more. The chorus melody is too poppy.

There's pop, and there's shit. Infallible is shit.Val wrote:That's the whole problem, it's too poppy. Chorus AND verse included.DDWJMUVW wrote:But really, infallible isn’t THAT awful. I do like Infallible, but I would like to see the verses up their menace by about 30% for purposes of contrast with the chorus. They need Rival energy, and it's not hard to imagine it being there.

I dont like it at all, it could have been a good song? yeah, but the production is horrible really and i hate the chorus.
Im happy the band seems to forgot they did it.

Re: 12th album rumors and speculation
I just listened to it for the first time in years. It's horrible. One of the reasons I stopped listening to the band. Ed sounds like he doesn't know how to breathe and yeah, the production is terrible, particularly the sound choices for the instruments. I don't understand where their head-space is at with songs like this. Baffling. But I could see it being like a solid, generic, feel-good pop song for a young Miley Cyrus if done right.VinylGuy wrote:I dont like it at all, it could have been a good song? yeah, but the production is horrible really and i hate the chorus.

Intrigued to know if there are any right wing/MAGA Pearl Jam fans? I respect Eddie's freedom to sing what he wants, but I dislikes some of the clumsy Trump references on Gigaton.

somebody threw a big fuss in the Transgender Rights thread when they saw Mike was a supporter of Trans youth.. not sure if that counts but probably.. also, Bammer, Macphisto, Epilogue, and PhatJ I think, but not surelecherouslittlestump wrote:Intrigued to know if there are any right wing/MAGA Pearl Jam fans? Bammer is a conservative, not a Trumper. He's a Desantis guy, I think.

Re: 12th album rumors and speculation
My expectations were really high, after reading all the reactions to this "metal door" clip.
All of the comments on this board really sparked my interest, and left me very curious and excited.
I was really hoping to be blown away by this clip.
However, after watching this clip several times now on you tube. I have to be honest....I'm not very impressed.
In fact I found this clip on the whole to be pretty underwhelming.
First off...
The metal door itself lacks character...It's grey, bland, and quite cold looking. It adds nothing aesthetically to this building and doesn't speak to me, or make me want to go inside.
This door is actually pretty cheap looking. It's a standard metal door & quite generic as far as what can be purchased on the door market these days.
I mean, the door itself looks to be tightly sealed and adequate as far as staying shut and all, and the locking system seems pretty reliable.
The door handle looks to be very strong and secure....but big deal.
I guess it checks all the boxes of what a metal door should do.
But, I'm really having a major problem with how this this metal door fails to block out any of the sound of whatever is going on behind it.
This door seems to offer very little privacy, and that to me is a major flaw.
I was really hoping for more here, and I come away from this really disappointed.
I guess, I really expected more from this than what it actually offered.
Truthfully, I don't know what all the fuss is about here.
Did you guys hear that Pearl Jam is apparently releasing a new album either this year...or next year?
I wonder if they'll tour, and come to Buffalo.
