Ed needs to stop pretending he's not going bald.

While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

He'd look like a psychopath with a shaved head. At Least he cut it.

Man at first I thought there was a weird kid with a yellow jacket and sunglasses in the grass near Ed's left leg.

Never seen this photo before.
Going by Mike's hair, it looks to be from late 1995 through mid 1996.

So I guess he went bleach blonde sometime between May and August of 94.Birds in Hell wrote:Yes, that’s why I thought it was worth posting!wease wrote:I thought 95, too, but is that not Dave A next to him?Birds in Hell wrote:

I don't know if we're at cross-purposes here, but I thought it was interesting that it was a photo of a band member hanging out with Dave post-firing. Given Jerry is there too, I presumed it was probably backstage at a show, and I'm guessing it must be Seattle, but no idea what show it might've been.

Re: The Photo Thread
I've thought about this too much already.
I don't think it can be in 1994, or before Dave was fired, as Mike still had longer, natural hair in October 1994 when they played Bridge School with Jack:

Mike had that same hair (of varying lengths) at least up until the run of Pearl Jam shows in September 1995, here's a shot from the Phoenix date on that tour:

When the band played again in November 1995, he was bleach blond - this is from San Diego:

He kept that same hair at least until at least around the No Code US tour in September/October 1996, this is from the Letterman performance of Hail Hail on 20 September:

By the time of the European leg of the tour, he'd started to grow it out - this is a Charles Peterson photo from (I believe) Portugal in late November:

You're right!wease wrote:He was bleach blonde in Sept in New Orleans when I saw them
I forgot about one further reference point, which is the Neil Jam tour.
Here's 25 August in Belgium - with McCready rocking a shorter, brassier blond cut:

So, then: the photo with Dave could only be from approximately August 1995 to October 1996, which makes it an interesting example of Mike and Dave still being relatively friendly at that stage.
If it was taken backstage somewhere, what show was it? There's no Alice in Chains, Soundgarden or Screaming Trees shows during that period in Seattle.
RHCP played Seattle on 12 April 1996, squarely in the right timeframe - but that can't be it, because AIC's Unplugged set was filmed on 10 April, only two days prior, and Jerry was clean-shaven that night.
Strange as it seems now, it's tempting to wonder whether Dave attended either of the Seattle shows Pearl Jam played in September 1996, the warm-up show at the Showbox on the 14th or the Key Arena show on the 16th. Maybe an early (and later regretted) olive branch extension? Unlikely, but not impossible.

Just odd that Ed and Jeff would let anyone from the PJ camp be friendly towards him, really.
