I’m no audiophile at all

But it sounds different on iTunes than it does to Spotify and sounds really muted on YouTube
I agree there is some sound quality variance because when I listened on Amazon Music it was bouncing side to side kinda like Binaural on my headphones in some spots with the guitar effects--very cool--and Youtube did not have that effect. Someone also said the Atmos version on Apple is baller.

The energy of that Mike Solo, and the buildup to it. It's funny- the leadup to the Quick Escape solo had me so hyped, and still every time I hear it, but this is like on another level. It's like that song was a proof of concept, and this is the final package.

If I’ve one complaint it ends too soon or abruptly.

I woulda taken another 30 seconds or more of cready just shredding it

Interested to find out who wrote this one. Apple Music doesn’t say but has all the engineers and producers. No Josh Evans.

Is it weird to be proud of a group of old folks for accomplishing this, like they're family?

Eddie sounds good and sitting a bit behind in the production is a great choice

This is a good song.

The pre-chorus is killer.

Ed is within his (limited) range.

Bravo!

Just checked Spotify credits, it lists as written by everyone in the band INCLUDING Andrew Watt.

Yeah I think everything is a placeholder for now. Maybe it comes out tomorrow when they figure out the lyrics.

This. Also that 25s snippet pretty much gave away the whole song. I don't hate it, it's much better than most of their recent stuff, but it's also not something I'd necessary want PJ to sound like at this point.

some random thoughts.

it sounds different on each streaming platform. hopefully because it was mastered quiet and each streaming service had to add their own compression but probably not.

EV sounds great on this, because he is in the mix and not on top, it allows him to be aggressive within the music rather than sticking out and having to overthink every syllable. the vocal melody is very fun and reminds me of a lost dog track somehow. excellent work EV and wontman.. :nice:

the whole thing sounds refreshing like DOTC did and clears the palette of the last few albums..

that being said;take away the cool vocal melody and it is a bit of an overblown meat and bun rocker. not a fan of the relentless pounding, or main riff that sounds like wotman interrupted stone, took his guitar and said "no, like this!"

i was expecting much less so its a win.

I agree the production is really good. Mike solo is really good. Ed's melodic choices with vocal are great. I like it but it doesn't really go anywhere. Almost boring despite it being interesting. Definitely not on par with DOTC . To be clear l like it a good bit. It is definitely a fresh yet familiar sound.
