Re: Dark Matter (song)
something I haven't seen mentioned yet is that when we say this song has a radio friendly "funk" sound, that's a format that was pioneered by artists like Stevie Wonder; I hear "Superstition" in Dark Matter, which imo can only serve to make a song like "Waiting for Stevie" feel thematically and sonically appropriate

I disagree; he sounds his age, definitely not "rough"tragabigzanda wrote:I’m surprised so many people are complimenting Ed’s work on this. Yes, it’s not word salad — that’s great. And yes, his track is situated comfortably in the mix — also great. But his actual voice is sounding pretty rough.

I think that Ed sounds great. He's not up front and center.
Reminds me of Ten, Vs Riot act mashup.
Loving this.
How are the drums?

I wasn’t afraid with Ed, Gigaton is a fantastic album for him , the 2022 show I saw live was jaw dropping and Watt got a great performance from him in Earthling.
Watt seems to really know how to get these energetic and great performances from vocalists; Mick Jagger is awesome on Hickory Diamonds too

Re: Dark Matter (song)
While I like this song, I hope this is the only song in this style on the record. Assuming this takes the spot that MYM/MFS did on LB and Quick Escape on Gigaton as the "hard rock" song on track 3 or 4 I am very happy with it. I like this quite a bit more than Quick Escape. Too many songs in this vain would be quite exhausting. This kind of song is good in small doses but leaves so little breathing room that I don't want 2-3 of them in a row.
The reviews of the listening party make me a little bit worried that the first part is the album is full of full on hard rock songs. But we will see.

No shit I don't love the song but for once in a while Ed and Mike are highlights. He's frigid 60 are you kidding me he is great here you couldn't ask for more. Is he getting some help here? Of course he is, but shit so was Chris 20 y/o. He should be so proud.Ms Harmless wrote:I disagree; he sounds his age, definitely not "rough"tragabigzanda wrote:I’m surprised so many people are complimenting Ed’s work on this.
