After that, it's back to Vs - S/T.
S/T's production doesn't bother you? That and Lightning Bolt are bottom of the barrel for me in terms of how they sound

To be fair, some of that may be more performance choices on S/T. But one of the reactions I had to the first few listens of Dark Matter was that this is the energy severed hand was trying to get to
There are elements of S/T production that irk me, but nothing that prohibits me from listening. There are, however, a few compositions that I think suck, so I skip those.
There's nothing about the production of any of PJ's records that prohibit me from listening to them. Some I like more than others. But there's not a record I can't listen to.

I’m wondering if Running is going to be a Spin The Black Circle/Comatose type rocker.
Maybe it’s a “Lukin”

Or maybe it’s a “red dot”

I personally wish it were a “Pry, to”
Good point.

BS and LB still hold very specific places in my heart. But it would be amazing to be able to look back at those as a very specific "era" or "phase." I totally get what you mean. Fingers crossed...

that's exactly right, I just want the benefit of hindsight on them because I know with that comes affection; when you're in the middle of your favourite band changing and experimenting it's kinda terrifying

There’s production choices that I may not be totally crazy about, and also just the actual sound quality, which I am by no means an expert.

All I know is it hurt to listen to Earthing at a decent volume on headphones, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

Aesthetically, I could do without the alternative FM radio pop sheen. But I can look past it if everything else is working.

Tender Mercies is phenomenal. And I agree it's better than anything on Earthling. But there's a lot I love on Earthing, too.

It's a lovely little song. But I'd take Invincible, The Dark and Try over it for sure.
