Not sure if this was known, but, I got an e-mail this morning from Super Deluxe Edition in the UK for a pre-order on the CD/Blu-Ray combo edition, and, the blurb on the product page mentions that the Atmos mix was done by Nick Rives and Josh Evans.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

All big up Josh, yes, but, don't sleep on Nick's involvement. He's the in-house head of Audio Engineering for Universal and handles Dolby production.
Rest assured, this will sound phenomenal (if Dolby is your bag)

A standard blu-ray player will do ya just fine.

$29.99 + shipping directly from PJ.com

OR

Seeing as you're in the UK...SuperDeluxeEdition has it here for £26.00 GBP tax included, sans shipping:

Gigaton's Apple TV Dolby Atmos thing with the visuals left much to be desired.
I'd even argue that some details are lost or pushed farther back in that mix.

I agree that it certainly wasn't demo disc/Steven Wilson quality, though, to be fair, I'm pretty sure it was one of Josh's first bites at the apple (if not his first).
I think he had a much better handle on things by the time he did Yield, which Nick also helped out on.

I can't speak for the quality of the songs, obviously, but, I'm pretty confident it will sound great.

One's experience is definitely gear-dependent here, yes.

:P

Will get the new bluray anyway and hope it was a learning curve thing.
Also wonder who's doing the visuals this time around?
Evolve Studios did a great job on Gigaton imo.
