I didn't mention it 10+ pages ago when I'd caught up with this crazy thread, but beautiful write up, stip.
And like that write up, to be clear, this song is so much more than a chip. Like Triscuits it has layers. Like Triscuits it is crunchy. And all the while it demands of you a certain level of respect that no cape cod, lays, or pringle could ever elicit.

Re: Dark Matter (song)
After giving it a few days I’d probably go with 3 stars (3.5 really). Love the drumming and the solo. They’re really cooking at the end and need another 30 seconds to jam.
Gigaton is one of my favourite PJ albums and Dance is an all timer for me. So I don’t enjoy it near as much as Dance. It’s nice enough, but doesn’t really have anything that keeps me coming back to it. The production is fine to my ears. But I don’t know if I heard another PJ song where I can make out less words upon the first few listens ha. Overall though, I really like how Ed sounds on this and his energy.
I’m hoping it grows on me. However, for whatever reason it reminds me a little of the shit sandwich that is can’t deny me. So it has the potential to go the other way too.
Overall, I think it’s a decent enough track and has me optimistic for the album.

Drain the blood from our hearts
In all of this dark matter
Take the breath from our chest
Break the thoughts in our mind
We're losing time, dark matter
Denounce the demigods
King diamond to discard
Deploy the dialogue
Your word against the law
It's strange these days
When everybody else pays
For someone else's mistake
This blame takes shape
Still everybody else pays
For someone else's mistake
Eroding away
We're pulling apart
In all of this dark matter
I once heard it said
And it stuck in my head
Arrested the press
No one knows what happened next
Renounce the demagogues
King diamond to discard
Deploy the dialogue
Your word against the law
It's strange these days
When everybody else pays
For someone else's mistake
This blame takes shape
Still everybody else pays
For someone else's mistake
No tolerance for
Intolerance or
No patience left for
Impatience no more
No love lost for
Lost loves
No sorrow for
The unaccountable
It's strange these days
When everybody else pays
For someone else's mistake
This blame takes shape
Still everybody else pays
For someone else's mistake

Re: Dark Matter (song)
The main thing i like about the song is that EV fixed some of his issues from the last few albums. its strange these days there's a lot of comments (not so much from RM) on deciphering the lyrics which is confusing to me as it was always an element in a lot of the 90's material
also
that band "black circle" has put out a cover already and it has a better snare sound.
also i also appreciate stips, KD and trags posts
edit: i appreciate everyones posts.

Re: Dark Matter (song)
I love the way the intensity ratchets up coming out of the solo, with everyone playing like they are struggling to be heard over every one else. Feels like a great live RVM outro

Damn it I wish it was longer. It needs one more round in the intro and one more round of the chorus at the end.

Yeah I like this song. I voted 3 stars, but I'd bump it up to a solid 3.5 if I could.
