Of all the bad takes in this thread, this one stands out.
it's not really a "take" as much as a personal opinion

Yea, I still love the shows but it's never been the same since.
That Who tribute performance was his absolute peak as a vocalist.

He had to have blown something that night. Totally worth it. I'll listen to that daily and still lose my shit

For me one of the biggest differences is happy chatty Ed versus the angry, brooding, quiet Ed I grew up with. I went to a ton of shows between 2000-2006 and so that was the standard I was used to. It’s become a totally different vibe, which is cool and still fun, just not nearly as engaging to me.

my favourite Ed persona was seething, gritted teeth, but also shy and humble

I love all iterations of EV. Truly. Feel like I've grown alongside him a bit.

It settled on me that Dark Matter is a Matt song. Matt songs haven't been my favorite and lacked lasting power in my typical listening, but I've enjoyed what they do for an album. I'd put Dark Matter pretty high up in the Matt offerings.

Matt should write every song. And McCready should wail over all of it.
