For me one of the biggest differences is happy chatty Ed versus the angry, brooding, quiet Ed I grew up with. I went to a ton of shows between 2000-2006 and so that was the standard I was used to. It settled on me that Dark Matter is a Matt song. Matt songs haven't been my favorite and lacked lasting power in my typical listening, but I've enjoyed what they do for an album. I'd put Dark Matter pretty high up in the Matt offerings.
