Pretty much exactly the same for me. I have a few boots from more recent years but 2010 was the last year I was really into it. There is a lot from that tour I really like, though.Homeboyd wrote:I think 2010 was about my limit for bootlegs. For better or worse many songs require Ed to do things he can no longer do. I liked the Eddie Vedder who wasn’t Eddie Vedder but Dave Kilminster playing with Eddie Vedder and Roger Waters at The Concert for Sandy Relief phase:EJ wrote:i liked his ron jeremy phase

I like early evening Ed. Mid-afternoon Ed is insufferable.

Re: Dark Matter (song)
maybe I like it because it's predominantly rhythm heavy; I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Matt song, as it clearly takes from Soundgarden and from You Are

That riff is not that boneheaded. There's some very Matt stuff in it beyond the first portion the riff.

Someone posted a clip from PJ Radio a few pages back where Stone was talking about Dark Matter and said it was a Matt song...definitely has some Evacuation/You Are love child vibes to it.Birds in Hell wrote:Where was this?bodysnatcher wrote:Don’t know how’s it’s credited, but Stone said it was a Matt song / riff / drum whateverB wrote:I thought it was a Matt song too.Birds in Hell wrote:Are you sure about that?Hatfield wrote:coptheriotact wrote:I like showbox Ed. Re: Dark Matter (song)
I've settled on a 4 (for now).
It's so good to hear properly channeled energy (vs MYM, CDM). You can tell actually playing together makes a difference in the takes.
I like what mike does at the end of the chorus ("for someone else's mistake") - a subtle variation on the octave riff he's playing; happens both times around I believe - those little things are nice.
The pre chorus is absolutely the best part of this track. It's one of my favorite segments of any song going back quite a ways - ed's vocalization over this riff is slam dunk spot on and perfect for his register these days.
A couple things that would take this to a 5 for me:
- I wish there was just a touch more melody from ed in the chorus. I understand he's trying to emote, and that's ok with me, but even slightly more melody would have really made this jump up a notch. it's jus ta touch "yelly"
- An outro after the last chorus with just that riff and a couple Mike licks layered on top
Overall, this already ranks up there with my top Gig songs (DotC, WES). Will be interesting to see if this feeling sustains.
