My biggest criticism of the vocal is the way Eddie says things like "DESE DAYS" instead of "these". Which is a thing he has done for years now but I still don't get why. I feel like he sounds like he has marbles in his mouth often (and in a different way than his younger vocals were unintelligible lol)

I agree. I also don't like how he makes his "L" sounds or most other sounds, for that matter

I hear "deez" too, but I like it because it harkens back to younger, gritted-teeth Ed, as was mentioned yesterday.

There is something about the melody or cadence in the pre-chorus that gives me "Rival" vibes

Certainly, many have had to….marinate.

On first listen of this song, it grabbed me pretty well at the outset (probably a 3.5 at that point), suffered a little at the bridge which sounded pretty basic though unexpected, and then TOOK OFF FOR THE MOON at the solo! At that point I was blissed out so much and the song has since been a 4.5 or 5 for me every time I listen. I appreciate the bridge more now.
