Is that a Matt or Watt problem? I genuinely don’t know.

Can Matt crank it up live?

Do you mean the tuning?

Matt likes a pretty thumpy snare.

Spotify? Unless it's region locked for some reason.

it's definitely a Matt problem, his live snares have always sounded terrible to me; I've seen people so far blame the snare sound here on Watt and I'd guess they're (mostly) wrong, and Matt had an influence on it

but then, I do have a particular penchant for a tightly cranked Dave A. or II from Sleep Token snare, and I know that's not to everyone's taste

I haven't seen the instrumental version on streaming.

It's my fault this time actually. I mentioned it as a way to appreciate the depth of the music.

The downfall of this song is going to be how too fast the play it live.

It won’t be Lukin fast but it might be even flow or given to fly too fast.

I love me a tight snare that sounds like an actual snare and not a moist pancake.

Jorge, please please add your vocals to the instrumental. I think that will be the ultimate version that will win over the doubters.

RockPusher wrote:If DTE came out today, there'd be people on this board bemoaning its "basic" riff
You could argue that many of the riffs on yield are basic. What makes the songs special is that there are many simple riffs layered over each other, sometimes distinctly different from each other that push and pull different emotions while adding tons of depth that makes the songs more than the sum of their parts. DTE has a simple but catchy, dancey riff that takes the spotlight only briefly before concluding with a powerful chord that’s given space to echo out, then in comes Jeff with the bass line to add a layer and bolster Ed’s sad, pleading tone, before finally finishing off with a harsh chord progression that descends into he’ll met with rage in Ed’s voice. There is nothing simple about how DTE is arranged.

Not basic:

Faithful bridge
In Hiding (all but chorus) - this song is one of their most intricate to date.
GTF
ATY bridge/outro

Having played all of these for 20 + years - they’re some of my favorite parts/whole songs.
