I thought his channel was neat at first but it quickly descended into clickbait boomer shite. Lots of "back when they made REAL music"-adjacent takes and general attention seeking behavior.

Kinda gets grating sometimes when he stops a song every six seconds to comment, but, the way he breaks things down is great.
It is annoying but assuming its how he gets around getting demonetized.

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Same. I know who he is. Had no idea he had such an incredible ear and knowledge of music production. This is still a 3 star song for me, but I am appreciating it more because of this analysis.Fattie_Vedder wrote:You have me going down a new wormhole, Jorge. We’re at the stage in my household where if I say, “hey listen to this..” they immediately reply, “we don’t want to hear the new Pearl Jam song!”

OK but "back when they made REAL music" could be the motto of RMEllo Sailor wrote:I thought his channel was neat at first but it quickly descended into clickbait boomer shite. Lots of "back when they made REAL music"-adjacent takes and general attention seeking behavior.

the low quality of the bridge is bothering me
and the unintelligibleness of the lyrics is an issue
i don't want to have to study them in order to be able to sing along at the live show
and they are so muddled it's hard for me to even make up words that sound like the lyrics (currently about 65% of my pearl jam lyric knowledge)

96583UP, I've found that the chorus is actually quite easy to sing along with. The rest of it though has been a bit harder.

Likening Wotman to Mutt Lange. Oh god. Really hits a nail there.
I can't wait to hear new material no matter the production. Sure it isn't exactly how I would like it but hopefully there'll be passable live performances to satisfy.
And reading those comments.... why do PJ fans always have to swing their dicks regarding fan since and shows attended.

Re: Dark Matter (song)
I think it's quite possible that Watt veers more toward arena rock sound (a la Mutt Lange comparison in that video) and that part of his "creative spark" reputation is built on him contributing riff ideas and the like. Is that a concern of mine? Having heard Earthling, the metal door leak in general and this song in particular, not really. I think with more washed up acts, there might be more Watt coming thru in the album, but anyone who's seen Pearl Jam live in the last few years knows that they still have the rock spirit alive and well inside them, and don't need babysitting.

Re: Dark Matter (song)
these are the correct lyrics
i will read them now
to prevent myself from getting arrested:
i will read them now
to prevent myself from getting arrested:
It's strange these days
When everybody else pays
For someone else's mistake
This blame takes shape
Still everybody else pays
For someone else's mistake
