“Night Country Spell” = walk 4 feet and have to be rescued
I think the darkness of the setting didn’t show how close that spreading of ashes scene was to the actual water

It doesn’t take a true detective to figure that one out

Hank: "I'm not a killer"

Narrator: "Hank then murdered the junkie and attempted to murder the chief of police"

6 episodes is too short, 8 is the right number.

The scene at the mining headquarters with Danvers, Connelly, and that chick that heads the mine was so unbelievably stupid and frustrating. I was pissed. Why in the world would they bring Danvers in to tell her about the forensics results there … in front of that women, with the women telling Danvers to close the investigation? If they wanted us to know about the conspiracy, they could’ve made it more believable. Just frickin’ lazy writing that treats its audience as imbeciles.

I assume it was to tie the trespassing blackmail video to the forensics

There was an ongoing mass-murder investigation where the mining women is telling the chief of police to stand down after she learned of the state forensics results before virtually anyone else. It’s pretty incredible.

I'm on episode 4 of the new season. It's entertaining enough. Really nice seeing Jodie Foster in this role. I do not like the performance from the lady playing Navarro, though. Very stiff performance from the actouress.

Yes. It was satisfactory. At least it wasn’t spirits. And Mack on o hay didn’t show up. I didn’t stick around to see if there was an after credit scene where Danvers and Navarro fucked but only because I didn’t want to see it.

This was a mediocre season of television made worse by trying to shoehorn in True Detective lore. It does reinforce one of life’s lessons: be nice to janitors.
