It's a hopeless situation

RA is probably a highlight in their catalog, production wise. Think it was more the "Ed sounding like he was watching his dog get run over time & time again" energy in the vocals, and his seeming inability to open his mouth more than 20% of the way.
That little yelp during I Am Mine was the most excitement he’d allow himself on the whole album.

Weren’t they still in mourning over Roskilde?

I love critical discussion. I just think there's a "getting lost in the weeds" aspect to pages and pages about some technical aspect that many of us a) can't hear and/or b) don't really care about as much. That's what Steve Hoffman forums are for, right?

Are there not pages and pages of "getting lost in the weeds" over the vocals, the lyrics, the guitars, drums...etc...?
We've filled 99 pages of detritus over a single song....Who decides where the line is on "acceptable conversation"?

Understandably so...I get it. Fair enough.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

I still remember the original board during the Avocado days. The first thing I said when we heard the pre-master leak with the extended "Life Wasted" outro was that Boom had gotten baked, snuck into the studio, and secretly replaced all of Matt's drums with cardboard boxes and his cymbals with cellophane. Fooking tragedy.

He kind of does a couple times in Dark Matter. Of course, so does Homer in the Jorge version.

A fool's errand, if ever there was....You know that's simply not possible.

Did you know that producers were triggering drum samples as early as 1992 for Dream Theater's Pull Me Under?
