do you mean "chef's kiss"? or are you exchanging bodily fluids with the reverb?Val wrote:My favorite part of the song comes right after the first chorus.tragabigzanda wrote:I actually think the bridge is the best part of the song (after the little bass riff butt stuff around 1:34)
That reverb effect is *French kiss*

Please someone else pay the couple bucks for the Qobuz hi res version and tell me what you think. To me it sounds quite a bit better.

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Since asking about this, I’ve already received 3 emails pushing Atmos equipment.wease wrote:Thanks!oneway23 wrote:Atmos mixes all have a bed layer that will be a 5.1 or 7.1 Dolby TrueHD(lossless) or Dolby Digital+(lossy), but, I'm not sure how that would carry through if your receiver is in stereo. If you're listening in stereo, my recommendation is to subscribe to Apple Music for a month and listen there. It'll be a binaural approximation of the full experience, but, you'll at least receive any potential benefits of the new mix.

It does. Sounds a little like listening through a metal door. The band does get pushed back in a pleasing way but there is an unpleasant echo and phasing.wease wrote:If you don’t have an Atmos system, do you think it sound much different?oneway23 wrote:Josh Evans & Nick Rives mixed the Dolby Atmos version contained on the deluxe editionWalker Bait wrote:Wait, I missed something. Is there a chance that the Atmos mix is what people have been listening to for the past few weeks?Thejambi wrote:Sounds a little like listening through a metal door.

Re: Dark Matter (song)
I just listened to all of Ten, all of Vs., and Dark Matter right in a row. Dark Matter holds up. Juxtaposed with fresh listens of those two albums, Ed sounds totally good on the new song. Whatever studio trickery is involved there, whatever, give me more.
The thing that most leaps out as "late-era Pearl Jam" is the bridge. It's not a great one, and it feels tonally different from the rest of the song in a way that was very apparent coming on the heels of hearing those first two records.
And for the record, I've been at 3-stars for Dark Matter since it came out. I'm not saying it "belongs on Vs.," just that it's a fine song even if you've just listened to Vs.

It's the same file as the PJ shop (if you choose WAV and not MP3) 24 bit PCM 48000 hz.RockPusher wrote:Please someone else pay the couple bucks for the Qobuz hi res version and tell me what you think. To me it sounds quite a bit better.
*Edit: Except in the PJ shop you get the single and the instrumental.
