This is why I could never collaborate with Elliott Smith. I'm too unprofessional. Also, he's dead now.

for Bammer:

Its easy to record from afar these days with file sharing.

Jeff, the singer, reached out to me via the 10C facebook group to see if i wanted to help him with this "cool little project a fan would aprpeciate". I said yea absolutely. He then told me he was going to record this song and had Dave A on the line to record the drums.

Dave learned the song, set his click track, and laid it down. Dave then sent the individual drum tracks to me (both processed and raw) and i imported them into Logic Pro. I then recorded a few scratch guitar tracks and the bass tracks until I got how i wanted to do it.

Went back and recorded the parts best I could. I made a quick shitty mix and sent the song, sans vocals, to the singer to take to a studio and record vocals.

He did that a couple weeks later and sent his vocal track back to me and i imported it into the session within Logic. The vocals sounded off.

Between then i reached out to Brynn Arens (minneapolis musician) to see if he mixed/worked with bands with stuff like this. Started a good friendship with him. I sent him the track/my rough mix and he noticed the vocals were also off. He then sent the singer off to TOm Beaujour in NYC (where singer lives) to track vocals.

At that point Dave A thought it'd be a good idea to get some Female energy on the track and sent it off to a friend of his in Brazil to see what she could do. She went into a studio with the rough mix and recorded a bunch of background vocals. She then sent the individual tracks to Dave and then off to me.

I sent everything to Brynn to mix and he sent back the lossless track to me, i sent to dave, and dave sent off to a guy called Ludwing Diaz to master it.

Boom bam.

 Thank you for explaining that to Bammer, because I also appreciated reading about the logistics of it.
