I will just note that being a fan for longer doesn’t further validate anyone’s opinions on the music. There might be a bit more emotional connection to the music due to the lived in experience. For me, Vs. was the jump off point for me, almost as if the moment that music hit I was meant to spend decades obsessed with that sound. Yet, this isn’t my favorite or particularly close to favorite of their albums. Ten was undeniably a beast, but for me not quite as accessible for me as Vs. Vitalogy blew my mind, but it was the first album of theirs that I loved that almost no one else in my circle liked at all. By the time I got No Code, I feel we were already a niche of fans and the band was no longer a cultural force as album makers and were transitioning to becoming more known for their live shows.

All that said, my personal favorite most of the time is No Code. Something about that album is warm and comforting, and feels almost like an intimate experience. A band in your living room album if there was any.

I don’t know what Dark Matter will bring, other than I think it will be the soundtrack and emotional blanket that will bring me through what comes next in my life, just as all the albums before it has.

I agree, they should give us something else now.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Agreed. It's obviously the number of shows you've been to

Even better, it's how many cumulative hours you've stood in merch lines.

I often end up taking casual fans to shows, and can't spend the hours on the merch line needed to ensure a poster. But I kind of wish I could.

Usually not too difficult to grab a poster once doors open. Unless you want a stupid basketball, the merch lines are kind of a joke. I stood in one in St Paul last August for 4.5 hours on my birthday. YUGE waste of time as everything I ended up buying was available the moment we entered the venue about 20 mins before band on stage.

I've definitely lost out on posters before

I wish they could release one tiny snippet of a song each week until release. At the very least. I know we have the door samples but I’m anxious to hear what Scared of Fear and Setting Sun sound like.

I would love that. I'll never obsess over any given 15 seconds of music in the same way once the record comes out.

It is dangerous though, if those 15 seconds don't fully capture the song.

They did this for Gigaton, but closer to the album release. Surprised there isn't a music sample in those record store tweets

I just listened to the Metal Door Leak for the first time in a while and I have to say somehow having gotten familiar with the song Dark Matter in the interim, the rest of this sounds even better. Like, the Dark Matter snippet was never in my top 3 or maybe even 5 of these. I am very excited and hopeful with this album.

Don't want to hear another second, at least before this thing leaks...especially out of context.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

What is the nook?

Ed’s S&M themed green room you get invited to before the show?

A while back someone posted a link to reddit where someone who had been at the listening party was commenting on the songs. It would be so great to be able to ask that person if they had listened to the Metal Door Leak, and to comment on what's what.

I agree. I also really want to know if clips 5 and 6 are from the same song or if they are both different. This is going to be quite a wait. At least they only announced it 2 months before release. Some bands announce an album with a first single even longer before a release date.

Do the listening party guests go home with the album? Must be tough for a superfan like the dude who reviewed it outside the venue afterwards to hear it once then have to go months without hearing it again.

They gave out a t-shirt with what ended up being the single artwork on it
