The bridge of Dark Matter is fantastic and it has gotten better with each listen.
It's my favorite part of the song
IDLES don't even know how to write a bridge and are just a flavor of the month.
They're not even the best post punk redux band out there right now.
As for the Foo Fighters. The only reason they are more popular than Pearl Jam right now, is because the majority of the world have terrible taste in music, and because Dave Grohl is a needy whore who can't control himself when it comes to seeking constant validation from the mainstream. Everything the man does is driven by self promotion. The Foo Fighters haven't been remotely interesting in a long time. Their first 2 or 3 albums are okay at best - mostly inconsistent & nothing on the level of importance or cultural significance of any of the first 5 or 6 Pearl Jam records.
EVERLONG & Dave's drumming on Them Crooked Vultures and QOTSA, are the only work of his that could be considered legendary. All the rest is just filler and no killer.
Can't wait for the new Pearl Jam record.

I bet the Grateful Dead would be tops on that spotify list if spotify had all of those bootlegs that GD fans listen to. They don't listen to studio shit at all. But they'll talk your ear off about minute 3:37 of Drums and Space from the 83 Philly show.

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

The PJ fans buy the tickets, maybe pat themselves on the back for the percentage that funnels through the Vitalogy foundation, then go plunk all their cash into extractive public markets so they can retire with three flat-screen TVs.
The young people beating the shit out of each other at an IDLES show are at least open to the idea of challenging that same system with every fiber of their being.
