Neat.

Showtime, TNT, FX and HBO all passed on the show. AMC clearly saw something they didn't and made it a hit.

Image
John Cusack and Matthew Broderick turned down the role of Walter White. After Vince Gilligan showed AMC execs Bryan Cranston's work on an episode of "The X-Files" he wrote, they were sold.

Image
Bryan Cranston insisted on wearing tighty-whities all the time. Creator Vince Gilligan says the actor wanted Walt to wear "the most pathetic thing" possible.

Jesse was originally supposed to die at the end of Season 1, but after seeing Aaron's performance, Vince Gilligan changed his mind. "My career would be over," Paul says. "I would be a sobbing mess watching week to week."

Image
Originally, Walt was directly responsible for Jane's death. The first script called for him to push her head back so she would choke. In the final version, he accidentally knocks her on her back and then does nothing as she chokes.

Image
Aaron got a concussion while filming a fight scene with Raymond Cruz, who played Tuco. "The next thing I know I guess I blacked out and I woke up to a flashlight in our eyes and it was our medic," says Paul.

Image
It only took one take for Bryan Cranston to successfully throw the pepperoni pizza onto the roof of Walt's house and have it land right-side-up.

Image
Dean Norris wanted to get killed off in the first half of the final season so that he would work on a comedy pilot. Vince's response: "I need you, what else am I going to write about in the last eight?"

Image
Mike Ehrmantraut's part in the series was supposed to be smaller. He was introduced as a cleaner for Jane's body after the actor who plays Saul Goodman, Bob Odenkirk, wasn't available to film.

Image
AMC crossover alert! As an "Easter egg" to "Breaking Bad" fans, Blue Sky was seen in an episode of "The Walking Dead," which airs on the same network.

Image
After filming wrapped, Bryan Cranston got a tattoo of the show's logo on one of his fingers. "Every once in a while I catch a glimpse of it and I see that logo from 'Breaking Bad' and it makes me smile," he says.

I like it. It's an homage to Bob Newhart, I think.

So I just watched this entire series in the last two months or so, starting shortly after the finale, and managed to get through it without any spoilers.

Holy shit, it's been an intense couple of months.

Slowly subsiding. It feels like forever ago that Walt blew out the windows in Tuco's place. I think that might be the moment that had me completely hooked.

So... as someone who didn't live through the hype, what did you think of the episode titled 'Ozymandias' (s05ep14)?

Well... it was as good as any episode of any show I've ever seen. Walt's phone call to Skylar was heartbreaking.

I'm sure this is a pretty normal reaction, but through each season Walt gets less and less likable. He starts as the hero and devolves into the villain with each passing episode. By the end, I wanted to cheer for him and hope that he gets away, but I was actually just hoping someone would shoot him in the head because that's what he deserved. In the final episode, I just wanted to hear him apologize to Skylar for ruining their lives, and the closest he could come was to be honest about his reasons for doing it. The same with Jesse... I wanted an apology, and he couldn't do it. I think I just wanted him to be the hero again before he died, but an apology would have just been another lie because he wasn't remorseful at all.

I saw the trailer for the episode with Cranston reading Ozymandias, and god damn... that sent chills down my spine as much as any episode of the show.
