I just finished Part 1 and still love it. I really can't wait for Part 2. They did an amazing job on the trailers (especially trailer #3) and sitting at 97% on RT.

I also just rewatched. Villenueve does a fantastic job of visual scaling. Scenes with large sized backgrounds but something small for perspective he does well. It’s what i like about Gareth Edwards as well. The sandworm scene with Paul standing there was so terrifyingly beautiful.

It also made me want to go back and watch Arrival again. Such a beautiful movie

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Zoë Kravitz is the hottest woman to ever be in a desert.

She was 23 when she filmed it so I guess you’re ok?
How old was Chalamet? Because he was a hot guy in the desert

Kinda has girlish features; I’d count him in either category

Expecting this to be a top five movie of 2024 (when ranked a year or two from now when I’ve seen most top 2024 movies). I hope I’m right.

Here's my review

If there's a problem with David Lynch's Dune (and I'm not certain that there is) it's that the last forty-five minutes is rushed. A lot happens but it's muddled and unintelligible.

Dune Part 2 takes those 45 messy minutes and expands them into a 2 hour and 45 minute epic that doesn't feel rushed at all, but still kind of ends up being muddled and unintelligible.

The movie has a certain power and there's certainly a lot to be impressed with here. There's a ton of beautiful shots (e.g. little guy in big desert, little guy in big crowd, little guy in big arena, little guy in big room, etc). Josh Brolin leads troops into battle again and it is as cool as it was in the first movie. That man has mastered walking with intention.

If you liked Dune 1, I bet you'll like Dune 2...but maybe not as much.

If you were impressed with Dune 1 even though it kind of left you feeling cold, you already know what to expect from Dune 2.

Go to the movies, have a good time

Was hoping for it to be better, but I'll take it. I'll probably like it a bit better than you did.
