Y'all mfers are crazy. The instrumentation is lazy boomer shit and the vocals are annoying.

Lol you can't be serious about that instrumentation. YOURE A MUSICIAN
So I just listened to this again, and I stand by what I said. The lead parts are so bland they're almost funny, and the rest is just goofy as hell. This is a goofy ass song.
I think it would be goofy if someone used AI to turn it into a lounge song.

I'd love to hear what it sounds like with Homer Simpson singing it.

Listened to this album this morning, probably the first time listening straight through a PJ record in the past year besides a spin or two of Gigaton. It's still remarkable, and what jumped out this time is how good Jeff is on these tracks, including this one.

Evacuation is fantastic; lazy? the rhythm and the chords go everywhere, it's the closest PJ ever came to jazz

This is wonderful, thank you

That bridge is still beautiful even with Homer singing it.

Reminded of a single, odd memory when seeing this thread.

I used to absolutely badger one of my oldest friends over Pearl Jam.
He's despised them for the entirety of our friendship, but, I remember being completely obsessed with the Evacuation bridge when this record came out.

Sitting in my parents' basement, completely baked out of our skulls, I'm priming my guy for this amazing bridge, hyping the shit out of it, ramping up, and, when it finally hit, the dumb bastard let out the loudest groan and exhale I'd ever heard it my life.

Friendship was grievously injured for at least 20 min. afterward.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

I love that Pearl Jam has a song where someone can say that they love the bridge, and then I have to say, "You're going to have to be more specific."

Both are baller, but, very Wellwater in the second, "psychedelic bridge." There's a great deal of what Cameron brings as a songwriter here. That bridge was life for a solid two and a half to three weeks, at least.

it's really great, especially how it comes back out and descends into the chorus; Dark Matter does a similar thing

LOL...yes, I've edited..

So wish I could hear Cameron better harmonize with Homer starting around 2:29.
