My kids love the Homer version. Sometimes *it* is what gets stuck in my head.

It's been in my head for too long. I've not heard either version for at least a week now and that's the one I recall.RockPusher wrote:My kids love the Homer version. Sometimes *it* is what gets stuck in my head.

I like the lyrics, specially the chorus. Resonates a lot these days.

We need to find that snippet of Ed’s ecstasy track so it can be Homerized.

Re: Dark Matter (song)
We really need an RM Google Drive to upload and share the entire catalog in Homerian
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

I still think Dance (4.5 stars) is better than DM (4 stars) as a first single.
Dance is soooo good. Hard to top that. Mike's funky guitar licks, Ed sounds great, keys, drums and the last minute of the song are so money.

Perhaps, but part of DM’s greatness is it nearly recaptures early PJ intensity and abandon. I give it the nod for that.Coach wrote:I still think Dance (4.5 stars) is better than DM (4 stars) as a first single.

Re: Dark Matter (song)
I really like Dark Matter (song). It continues to grow on me. Continues to get better and better with each listen. It doesn't capture my imagination nor my heart the way Dance did when it first dropped (and still does, honestly). I also really don't hear a lot of early Pearl Jam in Dark Matter.

It’s mostly detectable in Ed’s vocal. But the whole band is kicking ass behind him too.

The pre-chorus has hints of early Pearl Jamepilogue wrote:I really like Dark Matter (song). It continues to grow on me. Continues to get better and better with each listen. Re: Dark Matter (song)
Both felt like particularly impactful singles around here for different reasons, and depending on what you needed at the time.
Dance was a real creative departure from recent efforts, and if you were looking for pearl jam to surprise or challenge you, it was proof that they could still do that
As Spike said, Dark Matter captured an energy and intensity that has been absent for a long while - even on an album as well received as Gigaton which, outside of the soloing in QE, is not a particularly intense record.

Re: Dark Matter (song)
Each song captures a different classic PJ we all embraced.
DM the intense PJ of the early 90s that hooked us.
Dance the weird PJ of the late 90s into the 00s that kept us hooked.
Both iterations of the band are essential.
