Tossing this out there to the peanut gallery: Couldn't you say Devo + Police (not necessarily Demolition Man, in particular) + Pearl Jam = Green Disease?
Always felt the intro, especially, had an early Police (first few singles) + slightly New-Wave-ish energy about it.

it really works on GD but it did take me some getting used to

Infallible is almost like a mashup in that sense. The vibe of the verses and choruses don’t match.

This type of song does have a long lineage in their catalog, but, I could see that perspective, Val. Green Disease definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

Green Disease struck me as a no wave sort of thing since day 1, but only recently have I started hearing some Fugazi influence (who are also influenced by no wave, so there’s some circular logic happening here)

true. I always consider it something closer to Fugazi or a poppier Bad Religion. Also stuff like Buzzcocks which i think it was a reference foe at least Jeff when he played the bass line.
