Green Disease (however much I love it, and I do) started off their habit of having angry minor verses turn into happy major choruses (the worst offender might be Infallible)

I’m not feeling it.oneway23 wrote:Tossing this out there to the peanut gallery: Couldn't you say Devo + Police (not necessarily Demolition Man, in particular) + Pearl Jam = Green Disease?
Always felt the intro, especially, had an early Police (first few singles) + slightly New-Wave-ish energy about it.
I always thought of Green Disease as a stripped down MFC with all life drained out of it

Infallible is almost like a mashup in that sense. The vibe of the verses and choruses don’t match.

Definitely a dash of Drums & Wires-era XTC in that sonic stewtragabigzanda wrote:The new/no wave influence was there as far back Rearviewmirror

This type of song does have a long lineage in their catalog, but, I could see that perspective, Val. Green Disease definitely not everyone's cup of tea.Val wrote:I always thought of Green Disease as a stripped down MFC with all life drained out of it
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
true. I always consider it something closer to Fugazi or a poppier Bad Religion. Also stuff like Buzzcocks which i think it was a reference foe at least Jeff when he played the bass line.tragabigzanda wrote:Green Disease struck me as a no wave sort of thing since day 1, but only recently have I started hearing some Fugazi influence (who are also influenced by no wave, so there’s some circular logic happening here)

Green disease is one their absolute weakest efforts in my view.
I think I can see without hesitation that it’s RA’s weakest song.
Help help is so underrated. Such strong lyrics to boot.

Too many songs that are just ok on Riot Act - only a handful truly great. It’s my favorite start to finish listen of my lesser Pearl Jam albums, but it’s too long.

Anyone who likes Fugazi Bad Religion or yhe Spilt Enz needs to brush there teeth and gargle. I'm sure your breath smells like vomit after reading some of the last few post.
