this was from a few days ago but it was funny...

I had a Zoom meeting with a Sicilian woman. I grew up around a LOT of Sicilian people. For some reason, as our meeting went on, I gradually started speaking with the same sort of inflections as a Sicilian person. Not the accent, per se, but just the sort of energy and melody. I became aware of it and was mortified but couldn't immediately turn it off because it wouldn't been too obvious, so I tried to subtly ratchet it down over five minutes.

My wife heard the whole thing and was like "what the fuck was that about?"

haha, our elderly neighbors always host these meetings, so there's breakable stuff all over the place. i had to move a glass vase slightly when she was horsing around nearby, but otherwise, she couldn't have been better behaved and i think she got a kick out of it. by the end, she was laughing when everyone else would laugh - an obvious fake laugh - but it was amusing nonetheless.
