Tough choice but I’ll take Satan’s Bed since there’s whipping in Satan’s Bed so it’s like getting two for one!

Pry, To isn't really a song as much as it is an extended transition, so we'll ignore it.

This is so hard. Two songs I discovered (with everyone) during the Atlanta 94 broadcast, and which may remain the definitive live versions (certainly for Satan's Bed). I think I prefer the studio whipping to the studio Satan's Bed, but that's partially because I'm so in love with that live version. For a brief period it was my favorite Pearl Jam song, until I discovered Corduroy with the album's release.

Whipping has always fallen a little short for me. Satan's Bed was an album favorite from the jump, but has fallen off a bit as time has gone on. I'd say they're about equal for me now. Enjoy both well enough but never reach for either.

While I’m a huge fan of the song, I’ve always kinda seen Satan’s Bed as more a “joke” song like Mankind or Dirty Frank. The lyric about sucking Satan’s dick? Come on.

Whipping is the better, more powerful song.
