The "Jim is a douche" narrative is the most egregious misread in TV history. The Internet has been trying to make it a thing for so long and it's just absurd.

I think the big problem is that early on the show is modeled after the British version where Michael/David and Dwight/Gareth are far more annoying and unlikeable. So when they pivot to making Dwight and Michael more sympathetic it makes Jim look bad in retrospect.

It's been a while since I watched it, but I don't think so. He's a lot more depressed and is actually the subject of bullying from David Brent a few times.

The pranks weren't such a big deal in the British office. The only one I remember is the stapler in the jello.
