Felt like hell this morning, but I ran anyway because I have a lot of shit planned this weekend and I may not be able to run. My joints were fucked and the first couple of miles were pretty painful. 36 out. Things started to loosen up on the way back and I picked up the pace. 34 back with a quarter-mile finishing kick.
I think my lung boost from being in the mountains for a few days is officially over.

you guys do a mile in what 7-9 minutes?
i average out at about 10-12 per mile but only go thirty minutes.
10-minute miles is good for a dude your size. Nice work.
My buddy completed the Grand Slam of Ultra Running earlier this year... Western States 100, Vermont 100, Wasatch Front 100 and the Leadville Trail 100. I'm jealous.

That "something" should be qualifying for Boston. You have it in you. Be the wind, friend.
That would be amazing, but I just don't even know how to go about doing it. I also have zero willpower when it comes to food and beverages. I still weigh 172 (5'9"), which is what I weighed at the race in June. I feel like to have a chance at going from 3:37 to 3:10, I'll need to get down to a fit 155.
As an added incentive, I swear before all of RM that when you qualify for Boston, I'll pay the entry fees for both your qualifying race and Boston.
You're a helluva guy. I could never accept, but with winter coming here, i am already thinking of june's race. I think it might be time to get real. Lifted weights today, but then i ran a 7:30 mile to see if i could. Tomorrow i will see what a 7 minute mile feels like. That's the pace i'd need to sustain for boston. I feel like i need to try.
Got in a good workout this morning. Shuffled up the routine a little bit so that's good. On my dead squats I think I strained my hamstrings slightly. I really didn't feel anything at the time but they're tight now. Nothing serious so no need to go on the DL but it's probably going to uncomfortable for a day or two. Doesn't bother me when I'm moving but I can feel it when I sit or stretch my legs out. I'll definitely go down on my weight though next time I do that.
10 miles in 92 minutes with ~5,500 in elevation change
Both older kids ended up going over to friends' houses and my wife took the baby shopping, so I rather unexpectedly had some free time. Hit Peralta Trail for the first time in over a year. I was surprised with how busy it was today because it was 85+ degrees. This trail is really technical, so I ended up taking two handhelds with me because a) I wanted water and b) they make good pads for the hands when you eat shit on a downhill. I felt solid and kinda enjoyed weaving my way through all the hikers. I was kinda surprised to see the little river that runs along the trail as high as I had ever seen it and took time to dunk my head a couple of times. I did the 5 mile trail twice. First trip was 47 minutes. Second was 45. I was really flying on the second downhill and some clouds rolled in that cooled things off a bit. I ate shit towards the end of the second downhill and sure enough, the handhelds stopped the palms of my hands from getting ripped up. I also bashed my head on a low-hanging branch. Enjoyable trail run.

I hope so. You should start running today. It's what you were built to do.
The thing I love about running is it's simplicity.
Oh yeah, that's what I love about it as well. I'm really happy I discovered running as the sport for me. Just being able to do it whenever I feel like it is great.
No great improvements for me the last two weeks. Too much partying took it's toll. But the semester is starting now, so this will be reduced and I'm hoping to improve. My best 4km time was 24:30 and my next goal is to get that to 20:00.
Got a late start, so I hit the canals with a little gumption this morning. Even split. I took the inserts out of my 1600s, so now I'm basically just running on the stitching that holds the shoe together and the rubber that meets the road. I like it. 3.5 OZ.
Also, my wife and I ran her 5K route together yesterday. She's feeling inspired after finishing in the top half overall at her race and 5th in her age group, despite only running twice in the last month. I had the double stroller, she had the single. She's thinking marathon for the first time in her life. I'm happy as fuck!
