Concerns about Watt's production choices are legit. But if it's true that he helped inspire and energize the band, I'm willing to deal with whatever issues we have with the sonics, provided the songs are good and the performances are good.

I mean, basically since PJ seemingly gave up caring about delivering amazing sounding records with characterLedbetterdays wrote:You can hear a little of the band chorus chant at the very beginning that Stone mentions in his interview. This is the one that was supposedly Lukin-esque so word salad would make sense. My initial reaction to this was positive which was not so much the case with Something Special so I will take that as a win. Also, when did Pearl Jam conversation become so drum-centric--not the drummers but the sounds?

I got a logical extension of Earthlings vibe with this one. Rose of Jericho flavor.
although I think Jeff said this was Big Sandy Punk, so I'm guessing he has the main writing credit

Is someone cataloging an Urban Dictionary of Pearl Jam terms somewhere? Should it be its own thread?

I think that was a certain verse of React, Respond? I could be wrong, I'd have to back and re-read the interview

Gigaton sounded really good to me. Loved the production and the mix.Strat wrote:I mean, basically since PJ seemingly gave up caring about delivering amazing sounding records with characterLedbetterdays wrote:You can hear a little of the band chorus chant at the very beginning that Stone mentions in his interview. I kinda know i wont be a fan of the production of this one, but it seems there is enough stuff in the music that will grab me for sure.

Out of
Control
lost in a tunnel
and the tunnels getting funneled
like the sewage and the plumbing
cuz we left the fucking water running
we're cleared for
for liftoff
I close my eyes
take off
living in the shadows
crossing my fingers
a date with the gallows
and a reprieve's not looking likely
