I just think they showed up at Watt's place and played through his gear and this is the sound it produced. I like most of it so far. I can't stand the cheesy stuff from Brendan at the end with the laser sounds and stuff. If this is just mostly an arena-ready rock album then I will absolutely take it and I like what Jeff and Stone have said about it in interviews, so it's never going to be Yield or No Code or Riot Act again. It's always different for better or worse.

The best thing is I still don't think we have heard the 3 or 4 best songs on the record.

Hard to tell much about the production from that very low quality clip

Judging a song's production based on a screen recording posted on twitter and then saying how production/sound quality is so important sounds a little funny, I gotta say. That said, we have Dark Matter as a reference and much of what the rockers/heaviers are gonna sound is probably there, as Watt makes very uniform records (sound-wise).

I'm very happy, the band sounds excited, the songs/snippets sound just as authentic as Gigaton/Avocado did and nothing sounds as bad as Avocado/BS/LB (I'd even include the lackluster sound of Riot Act, but that's another can of worms and not decided if it's production or songwriting)

Could there be any aspects of the production being made for dolby atmos that make it sound different on other forms? Serious question, I dont know anything about this but Dark Matter on Atmos sounds alot different from the normal version.

Can anybody give a light on this?

Sure he put a little fixing on it. Stone said they just showed up. No instruments and just used his equipment so what I mean is I think he has a pretty standard rock sound that they played through.

1st) most likely Watt has all the same gear the PJ Guys do
2) You can literally make any snare, bass, guitar, vocal sound like absolutely anything you want it to sound like. And he makes it sound like this in produciton
3) Type of mics do matter - sure.

Riot Act is the warmest, most analog-y sounding record they've made. I love the Jack records too but a lot of the production has to do with the fact that Jack used Ludwig supraphonic (aluminum) snares. Matt prefers darker sounding snare drums (copper etc). The snare drum alone can change the whole sound.

The thing is with big production value comes fewer songs they play live. I am not a big go back and listen to albums person, so I would rather just have a straight forward album that they want to play live. If you have not read the Stone interview in Spin I highly recommend it. At the end he talks about how they need to take risks and do things differently like No Code and how it was received at release vs. now. He says Watt may have not been good for them in the middle of their career but it was great for now and he would like to work with him again.

Whoever said Pearl Jam doesn’t care (at least to trag levels) about the production on their records is likely correct.

Still waiting on pics of trag and strat with their Grammys tho.

Agreed. Which is why I don't worry about it too much. If the songs and performances are good, I'm stoked. In a perfect world, their production would be flawless. But that ship sailed long ago with them.
