Re: Rogan?
Dude, aliens always win. American Presidents defeating aliens is nothing more than a childish fantasy, propaganda for betas and diaper wearers.

I think our reptilian overlords genuinely want to protect us from deadly diseases, in the same way that a hog farmer wants to protect his swine.

Swine provide bacon, ham, chops, stew... what do we provide to our reptilian overlords that's worth keeping around? Joe Rogan?BurtReynolds wrote:I think our reptilian overlords genuinely want to protect us from deadly diseases, in the same way that a hog farmer wants to protect his swine.

Re: Rogan?
Look, I can believe in lizard overlords. I can believe the world is flat. I can believe aliens built the pyramids. I can believe in Joe Rogan. I can believe Bill Gates is tracking us with a DNA altering microchip in vaccines.... but if you think for one second anyone from outer space is eating humans like we eat pigs, well, sir, you're a moron. There. I said it.BurtReynolds wrote:bacon, ham, chops, stew...epilogue wrote:Swine provide bacon, ham, chops, stew... what do we provide to our reptilian overlords that's worth keeping around?BurtReynolds wrote:I think our reptilian overlords genuinely want to protect us from deadly diseases, in the same way that a hog farmer wants to protect his swine.

Just came here to say that the poll results suggest an RM slouching towards reasonville. Good thread, rob.

bump
can any Roganites let me know if he had a good Loch Ness monster expert on at any time? there’s a lot of misinformation on the topic in the MSM, so I’m hoping he had a guest on the show who did their own research.

Re: Rogan?
I don't mean to bump this, but the above has got to be the most hilarious way of saying "no" while demonstrating "yes" that I've read lately. "I don't look down on people. I just find them pitiable and think what they like sucks."Mickey wrote:Not at all, though I certainly have contempt for religious extremists and find Marvel adults pitiable. I'm just saying, there are lots of things that are widely popular that suck, or that I at least personally dislike or don't care for, so it doesn't give me any pause that Joe Rogan is popular.Rob wrote:So you'd also look down on people who consider themselves religious and/or like X-Men movies?Mickey wrote:Large masses of people like organized religion and Marvel movies.
I think the whole schtick of "I know it's wrong to look down on people based on generalizations even though I do, but I'll talk like I don't so I can still come across as more enlightened" actually sows some of the distrust referenced in the CNN discussion a couple of posts up.
In regards to the actual topic of Joe Rogan, I don't have a problem with him but I would tend to agree that he's something of a cipher. Just platforming people and getting them talking. I think the hand-wringing over him is identical in my mind to the hand-wringing over mass media's influence. What I see in both is that local, relationship-based wisdom and discernment has been outsourced to distant and oversized personalities with megaphones that would have been literally unimaginable 50 years ago. You look too closely at any of CNN's or Joe Rogan's most ardent supporters and you start to get a cult vibe because the authoritative stance they tend to take on all matters is spread so broad as to have no depth. To me, "experts are saying" has exactly the same weight as "I did my own research". I don't know the experts and I don't know the person doing their own research. It's all a buzz.
TL;DR -- Joe Rogan and CNN both are just billboards in a real epistemological crisis. Where can we be sure knowledge actually comes from that is not just parroting what you heard your favored media personality put on their platform.

He is taking forever getting to the synthetic aperture radar scans of the pyramid complex. Stop pussyfooting around and give us the ancient alien speculation that we demand.
