Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
are we mad at Ed for "ruling the roost", or are we mad at the rest of the band for not quitting despite his cruel dictatorship? at some point we have to admit that this is Pearl Jam, they are all loaded, and no one is forcing them to do anything

These guys get into a room (at least this go around) and come up with stuff that sounds good to their collective ears.
As Ed has said, it’s important to the band as a whole to make sure each guy gets his color of paint on their work.
So, in what way is that inauthentic?
Please calm down. This isn't the Pit.
-it was decided a long time ago that Ed gets ultimate say in anything that gets released
-Matt believed, it was led to believe, that Wotman/Ghanea wouldn’t do him dirty, OR they assumed that maybe Josh would mix it
-Jeff at one point said he thought they still had work to do, then suddenly the album was done…
-Which makes me think Ed gave Wotman the green light to do whatever, then Ed loved what he heard because he’s going deaf, and by that point it was too late for Matt or anyone else to make a fuss

Trag, you can record an album in a weekend; you know this
you think Wotman and Gonorhea took 2-3 months to produce this?

A simple search shows Jeff said that about the album back in June 2023. So more than a few months ago.

MASSIVE amount of speculation here. Trag, your weird axe to grind is bordering on delusional.tragabigzanda wrote:What I honestly think is all of these things happened:

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
Stock, Aitken, & Waterman would've knocked this album out in a weekend
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

I wouldn't have guessed that Trag would be the RMer to start writing Pearl Jam fan fiction.

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
a) Dark Matter the song has hallmarks of a certain style of production that you don't like, but you are going way the hell off on how unlistenable it is. You don't like it. Fine. You do you.tragabigzanda wrote:And hey maybe I’m wrong — maybe they all love how it sounds! Some of you seem to so whatever. Still sounds like pure dogshit to me.
b) Literally every other bit of sound we've had from this album is compromised, whether it's the metal door, the fan noise on Something Special, or the weird artifacts and general crappy resolution of Running. Other than Dark Matter the song, we know very little about how this album sounds.

That's what I was going to say. I think Jeff was saying that months before Ed said at one of the shows last fall that the record was done.scrub12 wrote:A simple search shows Jeff said that about the album back in June 2023. So more than a few months ago.
